Metropolitan Water District of Southern California to discuss going green. John Arena, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, has indicated a need for a "green" approach to water treatment in order to save the environment and reclaim cleaner water. The condition of Southern California’s water supply has been a troubling issue in legislature for years. Finding a plan for the next 20 years that protects California’s water, while accommodating the lifestyles of its citizens, has become almost impossible. Legislature can develop a successful plan for the future Southern California’s water by stressing conservation, usage of reclaimed water, and widespread media support. Reclaimed water is one of the best new water resources in California. The process of cleaning and purifying wastewater until it’s safe enough to use is easier and cheaper than desalination of ocean water. Reclaimed water is safe for use on many things, like landscaping, but it should not be consumed by humans. However, people and animals wouldn’t be harmed if they came into physical contact with reclaimed water. |
